Our New Home.
Oscar and I have been thinking about buying our own home for quite a while now, only now its a reality. We looked for about 5 or 6 months before we finally got a realtor. A really good family friend shared her Realtors information with us, and soon after that we met 2 of the three. The group is a father daughter organization. We loved it right away. They set us up online to look at houses. The very next weekend we went and looked at some of the houses on our list. Now, the reason for going so soon was that we got a call from our realtor informing us of a home that’s price just dropped $39k, and she actually had a family turn down this offer. Pam (daughter) was really excited for us to look at it. She had her father, Don, show us the house. We fell in love with it right away. Of course we didn’t want to jump to conclusions, we weren’t about to be first time home buyers buying the first house they saw, that’s just not us. We went and looked at about 5 other homes that night, these homes were foreclosures however. For the price we were looking at this would be the only house that wasn’t foreclosed on or in the process of foreclosing. We got my parents to come and look at the house with us, and we also showed them two other houses so they could compare. All of the adults gave us the ‘think about it’ talk before we went home that night. We sat up all night thinking about what our decision would be the next day. There was no rush at all. The moment i woke up i called Don and told him we wanted the first house we saw. I felt so stupid saying that but i knew it was the right thing. We decided that it would be smarter to go for the house and not get it than not go for it and regret it. That Saturday after our 3-d Ultrasound appt we went and signed all the necessary paperwork to put an offer on the house. We waited until the night the seller got home to send the offer, we would then wait for their response. The following Tuesday, I got a voicemail on my cell phone around 1:30 from Don saying he needed to talk to me! I was terrified. I waited until Oscar got off of work to call him back just so that i could call him and tell him right away. I called Don back and he said “Well there’s two things, they accepted your offer..(long pause)..but they will need to stay in the house until August 15th, now they will be paying you rent for the time that they are there, but it’s up to you whether you wan to accept their offer.”….this is where i am speechless. I couldn’t breath….if i weren’t at work i would have screamed at the top of my lungs. I said YEs that sounds wonderful, not a problem. He said okay now go call everyone you need to call and call me back so we can talk about it. So i call Oscar and he says no way, for real..then is speechless for about 5 minutes. I could hear the smile on the other end of the line. Once i called everyone I had to give Don a call back.  He is making me a month long plan for everything we will need to do along the way. We will be closing July 31st and moving in two weeks later. My due date is August 22nd, so we will see how everything works out. Today is June 30th, the Home Inspection and the Pest Inspection will be done today. Oscar will be meeting them at the house to sign off on everything! We are so excited. The house is beautiful. There is so much to do to get a new house and so many more bills once you have your own home, but we have figured out exactly how everything will work and still have a back up plan! Cant wait to see our lil girl and move into our first home!
